Gwyneth Paltrow addresses concerns over Apple Martin’s music debut

Gwyneth Paltrow says she has mixed feelings about her daughter Apple Martin pursuing a music career, especially after the 20-year-old faced online backlash following her Nashville debut in October.

Apple had performed her single Satellites with college friends and indie duo Jade Street, but the clip went viral and sparked criticism instead.

“It’s crazy because she was just singing with a college band,” Paltrow told Access Hollywood. “Because she’s her, it went all over the news.”

She said she expects her children to have access to opportunities because of their talent and upbringing, but is also aware of the “hurdles and pitfalls” that will come tied to fame.

“As a mother, I’m very realistic about the road ahead,” she said, adding she is proud of both children. Paltrow and Chris Martin’s son, Moses, also performs with his band People I’ve Met, which toured last summer.

However, Apple has often faced online criticism around “nepo baby” privileges.

In an interview with The Telegraph, she acknowledged her privilege but said her parents taught her she must work for her achievements. She is currently studying law, history, and society at Vanderbilt University.

Paltrow, who began her own acting career through family connections, said she dislikes the “nepo baby” label and hopes her children feel free to pursue any path regardless of public judgment.
