Edinburgh Airport resumes flights after major shutdown

Edinburgh Airport has announced the resumption of flights as all the operations have been halted due to a major IT issue in air traffic control..
The Airport authorities have confirmed the restoration on a social media post, saying, "Flights have now resumed following the IT issue with our traffic controller provider.”
“We thank passengers for their patience and understanding,” the statement reads as reported by the BBC.
The issue occurred this morning. In response, the Airport authorities have issued a statement, "Due to an IT issue with our air traffic control provider, no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport. Teams are working on the issue and will resolve it as soon as possible.”
‘We will provide updates when possible – please contact your airline for the latest information on your flight,” the spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport added.
The authorities did not give a definite timeframe for operational recovery.
Edinburgh Trams also informed passengers on X. Its post read: "If you're travelling with us to @EDI_Airport this morning, please be aware that flights are not currently operating."
An average of 43,000 passengers per day use Scotland's one of the busiest airports, which is served by 37 airlines flying to 155 destinations.
