Prince Harry surprises America
Prince Harry's lip-synching video from Stephen Colbert show has gone viral
As soon as Prince Harry's Stephen Colbert skit emerged online, some British tabloids called it cringeworthy and wrote that it shows the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle have lost "their way".
However, one thing that seems to contradict their claims is the reactions Harry's video received online, especially in America where the youngest son of King Charles III is based with his family since 2020.
The Duke of Sussex channeled Alison Hammond as he lip-synced to a viral clip from The Great British Bake Off with US talk show host Stephen Colbert.
The video featuring the host and the British prince has gone viral, with thousands of Americans showering love on Harry for his wit.
"He may be a prince but I see two KINGS," said a user commenting on the video shared on official Instagrma account of The Late Show, which airs tonight.
"The Bake Off SMM is going to wake up to a million notifications tomorrow," said another.
A third said, "Prince Harry is the coolest royal evahhhh! More of this please,"
On the other hand a PR Guru found Harry's jokes 'painful' saying, the novelty of a British prince in America has 'worn off' some time ago.
Mark Borkowski said, "Harry’s Colbert skit isn’t "embarrassing" because he’s chasing US celebrity, it’s embarrassing because he’s doing it badly."
"Making fun of your own privilege only works when the audience believes you’ve transcended it. Harry hasn’t. The jokes land like a man reminding you of a punchline that expired three years ago, " he said.
While British media is criticizing Harry, some US observers believe the Duke of Sussex, who is already more popular than many Hollywood celebrities, has shown that he can surprise people and win their hearts with his hidden talents.
