'Knives Out' director Rian Johnson names Oscar winning star he wants for next film
'Knives Out' director Rian Johnson is shooting for the stars
Knives Out director Rian Johnson has shot for the stars when it comes to the cast for his next movie.
Rian was asked his dream actor whom he would like to cast in the next film. He had a firm answer, "If you’re reading this, Meryl Streep, I feel like you’d slot into a murder mystery very well."
The director added, "If Lorne [Michaels] can do it, then, goddamn, so can we," referring to Meryl’s long-awaited Saturday Night Live debut.
The Mamma Mia! actress would be a perfect fit for the murder mystery films not only due to her vast talent, but also because she has been a part of another murder mystery recently: Only Murders in the Building.
"There are so many actors I haven’t worked with," the director added to IndieWire. "That’s one of the real treats of making these movies is you get to experience new actors and these big casts."
The franchise’s most recent entry, Wake Up Dead Man, is in select theaters now and will stream on Netflix from December 12.
Wake Up Dead Man sees Daniel Craig’s shrewd detective Benoit Blanc. Other cast members include Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott and more.
