The monarch had issued some big changes after he had ascended to the throne in 2022 and elevated some of his significant projects he had started as the Prince of Wales.
Charles began his Prince’s Trust in 1976 but it was renamed to the King’s Trust in November 2023, but it was officially unveiled with its new name in October 2024.
However, a latest change to one of the centres supported by the foundation left many fans in shock. Singer and X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole, also known as Cheryl Tweedy, had established the Cheryl’s Trust Centre in her native Newcastle to help disadvantaged people.
Although, earlier the name was dramatically changed to King’s Trust sparking concerns if she was removed from the charity.
One fan stated that it was “very sad” since she was “the driving force behind” the centre. Another noted that it was a “cheap shot that her name was removed, it's not at all cool”, via The Mirror.
After fans noted the major change, a royal source crushed speculation about Cheryl’s exit, as a royal source insisted that the centre at the time was named on a “temporary basis”, per Daily Mail’s Richard Eden.
“When the charity formally changed its name this year from the Prince’s Trust to the King’s Trust, it was a natural moment to also change the centre name and signage,” they said.
Furthermore, a spokesperson confirmed, “Cheryl remains a very valued Ambassador of the King’s Trust.”
Cheryl first met the King at a Prince’s Trust gala dinner in 2012 and later joined him for tea at Clarence House. Given her success in showbiz, Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend collaborated with Charles’s royal charity. He had praised her for her “energy and enthusiasm”.
