Meghan Markle decision to quit royal life backfires amid career crisis

Meghan Markle could have built a successful career as an active working royal, a journalist thinks so. 

The Duchess of Sussex, who left the royal family in 2020, has been making the headlines since the beginning of 2025 due to back-to-back announcements about her new career ventures.

A cooking show on Netflix, lifestyle brand As Ever and podcast return with Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan aimed to explore every medium.

But the recent news about her acting comeback with a brief role in an upcoming movie, Close Personal Friends, sparked mixed reactions. Many fans believe that Meghan is confused about deciding her niche.

As per The Sun, royal expert Charlie Rae claimed that the Duchess of Sussex would have a successful career within the royal family, but she took a life-changing decision. 

He shared that Meghan will keep coming up with a number of different projects as "she’s actually got a real purpose in the sense of a career."

"She could have had a career, a very good career, in my view, here within the Royal Family, but she chose not to have that," Charlie added. 

On the other hand, another royal commentator, Kinsey Schofield, compared Meghan to Kim Kardashian in a fresh blow. 

While commenting on her acting return, she said, "This is giving Kardashian energy. Kim Kardashian playing herself in cameos and films and television shows, before moving into scripted [films], with Tyler Perry, Lili’s godfather."
