Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen’s reunion 25 years after How The Grinch Stole Christmas just made our hearts grow three sizes.
Momsen reunited with her former co-star at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 8. Speaking to People magazine, the child-actress-turned-rock-star opened up about her favourite memories of working with Carrey when she was just five years old, calling the experience “wonderful.”
“I just love that he was very protective of me. He was always very kind,” Momsen, now 32, recalled. “And just the entire experience of filming Grinch and getting to know him so well, even in all the makeup, was just wonderful.”
Carrey, now 63, famously transformed into the grumpy green Dr. Seuss character in the 2000 film, while Momsen played the big-hearted Cindy-Lou Who. Looking back, the Gossip Girl alum said Carrey’s dedication to his craft left a lasting impression.
“As a young person watching an artist at work and taking their craft so seriously, that left a really powerful, lasting impact on me as an adult now,” she explained.
Momsen has since shared that she didn’t even know what Carrey looked like during filming. “I never knew what Jim Carrey looked like because he was there way early doing the prosthetics,” she told Call Her Daddy last week “I didn’t know who Jim was until the premiere and someone had to point him out to me.”
Even decades later, the film holds a special place in her heart. “People love The Grinch because the core of the story is so sweet and heartwarming,” she told Today in 2020. “It just brings happiness and joy to anyone who watches it.”
