Jonathan Bailey sets rumours straight about him 'quitting acting'
Jonathan Bailey to star in 'Wicked: For Good' with Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo
Jonathan Bailey, who has just been labelled as PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive 2025, has been speculated to quit acting.
Reports have been circulating on social media saying that he has decided to stop making movies.
The rumours came after the Wicked star said in an interview with GQ that “he was going to stop acting for a bit” to focus more on the charity named "Shameless Fund" that he launched in 2024.
Even though, he is at the height of his career, yet he has decided to take some time off to “focus on charity and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places”.
However, his statements were misunderstood, and they got transformed into speculations of him quitting acting.
Bailey has finally broken his silence on the matter saying, “My intention was to say, ‘Next year I’ll be back,’ but yeah, the ripple effect was extraordinary.”
The 37-year-old revealed that the reports left his family concerned as his sister called him up to confirm if he was quitting.
“My sister, who I’m close to and lives in Australia, called me and said, “Wow, is everything OK? You’ve given up?”
Jonathan admitted that he very quickly realized that these headlines can’t be controlled.
To sum it all up, the Bridgerton actor told Esquire that he doesn’t have plans to "take the whole off for 2026". Bailey said that he will "definitely comeback to next year".
Work Wise, the actor is all set to reunite with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in Wicked: For Good.
