Diddy scores huge legal win after being transferred to cushier prison
A US Circuit Court Judge has granted Sean 'Diddy' Combs' defense team an expedited schedule
Sean “Diddy” Combs might not be behind bars as long as expected.
According to Deadline, the disgraced rapper’s legal team just scored a win that could fast-track his appeal and potentially shorten his 50-month prison sentence.
Days after being transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution — a cushier, low-security prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey — a federal appeals judge granted Combs’ defense team an expedited schedule. The ruling, made by U.S. Circuit Court Judge Beth Robinson, sets the first round of filings for December 23, 2025, with oral arguments to begin as early as April 2026.
“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the motion is GRANTED,” Robinson wrote in her brief ruling, giving Combs’ legal team everything they requested.
The expedited timeline means the 55-year-old Bad Boy Records founder could have his appeal heard well before his current release date of May 8, 2028.
Combs’ lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, filed the request last week, which the court approved without opposition.
The decision follows the rapper’s October 3 sentencing, when he received a four-year term for transportation to engage in prostitution, along with a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
If convicted on the more serious RICO and sex trafficking charges, Combs could have faced life behind bars. But for now, Diddy is settling into his new surroundings at Fort Dix FCI, where he’s reportedly been spending time with fellow inmate and former NBA player Sebastian Telfair.
TMZ obtained the first pictures of Combs inside prison at the FCI Fort Dix over the weekend, showing him in high spirits as he smiled ear to ear and laughed with fellow inmates.
