Is Justin Trudeau's Halloween costume giving nod to Katy Perry?
Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry's romance rumours swirling around from July
Justin Trudeau seemed to dive deep into pop culture inspiration this Halloween.
The former Canadian prime minister, 53, surprised fans with a clever costume choice — a bright blue shark suit — instantly reminding many of Katy Perry’s unforgettable 2015 Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show.
During that performance, Perry was famously joined by dancers in shark costumes, including Bryan Gaw, who went viral as “Left Shark” for his offbeat moves.
Though Perry, 41, was not seen in Trudeau’s Halloween photos, the politician proudly shared his festive look on Instagram alongside his son, Hadrien.
Trudeau, who shares children Hadrien, 11, Ella-Grace, 16, and Xavier, 18, with his estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, posed with his arm around his son, who wore all black with fake blood streaked across his face.
The duo took their father-son project to the next level by crafting a surfboard accessory complete with fake blood splatters and a missing bite mark.
Trudeau captioned the post, “Ready for Halloween with Hadrien: he’s the surfer, I’m the shark (to his left). We built the costume together — a little father-son Halloween teamwork.”
The shark’s vivid blue hue quickly drew fans’ attention, with many pointing out its resemblance to Perry’s halftime show dancers.
One fan joked, “I’ll dress up as Katy Perry and then you and I can pretend to be together!” while another quipped, “TO HIS LEFT,” nodding to the “Left Shark” meme.
Trudeau and Perry, who were first spotted together at Le Violon in Montreal in July 2025, recently made their relationship public during a night out at Crazy Horse Paris to celebrate Perry’s birthday.
