Meghan Markle, Prince Harry face another team shake-up

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing another staffing change as their director of communications, Emily Robinson, has departed after just four months in the role.

Robinson joined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team in late May after working at Netflix as a Senior Director of Publicity. According to Daily Mail, she left her position in October, marking another shift in the couple’s communications department in recent years.

People magazine reported that Robinson left voluntarily. Her LinkedIn profile has not yet been updated to reflect her time working with the Sussexes.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess said, “Ms Robinson oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of With Love, Meghan and additional support for the production company. She did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.”

Since moving from the U.K. to California in 2020, the couple have seen several senior staffers depart. Earlier this year, deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia and U.K. press officer Charlie Gipson left after a year on the job, while global press secretary Ashley Hansen exited last year to start her own firm.

Liam Maguire continues as director of communications in Europe, and Meredith Maines remains as chief communications officer.

Robinson’s exit follows recent controversy surrounding Meghan’s Instagram video from Paris Fashion Week, which critics claimed was filmed near the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, where Princess Diana died in 1997. 

As per Daily Mail, “Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with.”

The Duchess recently returned to Instagram, sharing glimpses of life with Prince Archie, 6, Princess Lilibet, 4, and promoting her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
