Queen Camilla starts Bromham Community Hub to cure loneliness
Queen Camilla celebrates poppy making with Coresham community
Queen Camilla kicked off a visit to Bromham with the official unveiling of the new Bromham Community Hub, meeting local representatives and organisations who make the space come alive.
Queen was accompanied by her friends and companions, Dame Sarah Troughton and Lady Lansdowne.
The hub, complete with a cozy café and flexible community rooms, is designed to revive village life, combat isolation, and support the mental wellbeing of residents.
Inside, Camilla chatted with a range of groups, from professionals who helped build the space to the local organisations who now use it regularly.
Among them was the Bromham Stitchers’ Group, whose members proudly shared how the hub has become a creative and social haven for the community.
The visit included a stop at St Nicholas’ Church and a ceremonial unveiling of a commemorative stone in the hub’s car park, marking the occasion for local residents.
Camilla admired an artwork depicting local residents Beth and Bluebell, highlighting her interest in the stories and talents of those who use the space.
The Queen also met with groups involved in the hub’s development and community members who regularly benefit from its facilities.
She spent part of her day in Coresham visiting The Poppy Project, a vibrant initiative launched by The Peacock Women’s Institute earlier this year.
During her visit, she joked that volunteers had “poppies coming out of (their) ears.”
The royal expressed her admiration for the initiative, describing the knitted and crocheted flowers created to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War as “very impressive.”
