Snapchat introduces an open prompt AI Lens for free in US
Snapchat’s prime tool which allows users to generate or edit photos has been revealed
Snapchat has unveiled its first ever open-prompt AI Lens, called ‘Imagine Lens’, available to all users for free in the United States.
The AI Lens was initially launched in September for paid subscribers only, but users can now edit their own Snaps using tailored instructions or generate their own images.
It will work after snapping a selfie and prompting the application.
While users could use the Lens to try on Halloween costume ideas or transform a friend’s look into something innovative among other things, they can now access this feature for free.
It has been observed that AI video-generating applications such as MetAI and OpenAI’s Sora are in high competition for young people's engagement.
These state-of-the art AI tools and features which transcend image editing have led to a wider availability of the AI Lens.
Sora enables users to generate videos featuring themselves by first recording a one-time video and audio to depict their likeness.
The company has clarified that Snapchat’s AI Lens has been made available to Lens+ and Snapchat Platinum subscribers.
The new feature will be rolled out with a specific number of image generation options for all free users.
Following the initial launch, future plans for other regions are underway, starting with Canada, Great Britain and Australia.
The new feature will work to enhance user experience. The AI Lens is found near the front of the in-app Lens Carousel, or a Snapchat user can search for it by name.
Users can create an image, tap on the caption to edit their prompt or use default suggestions if you need a push.
