Swiss shoe company sued over strange complaint
Customers claimed that popular sneakers make embarrassing ‘squeaky’ noise while walking
Recently, a shoe company in the U.S. was sued over a strange complaint from customers about popular sneakers that make "noisy" or "embarrassing squeaks" while walking.
According to BBC, the class action lawsuit was filed on October 9, 2025 in the U.S. District Court in Oregon.
The customers claim that multiple "On sneakers" styles from Swiss Athletic company "CloudTec" are unwearable and lack "significant DIY modifications."
Moreover, the plaintiffs also accused the company of "deceptive marketing" as they were unable to return the shoes and were seeking refunds and other damages.
The customers said they got disappointed after raising several concerns about the discomfort they experienced and none of their complaints were addressed.
The sneaker lovers suggest that Switzerland-based shoe companies could have "fixed the design or have offered to fix the complaints or even refunding consumers their money back."
As per the lawsuit, the customer complaint mainly cited the "Cloudmonster" and "Cloudrunner" models from the popular shoe brand.
One customer claimed in the complaint that she was "no longer able to use her shoes as intended due to the embarrassment and annoyance."
The plaintiffs also quoted references from social media posts on TikTok from other frustrated customers who have suggested DIY remedies for the noise - including applying coconut oil to the soles of the shoes to make them a bit comfortable.
Upon all of the defamation the "On sneaker" company immediately gained back its name after showcasing tennis player Roger Federer for the marketing campaigns to boost back the direct-to-consumer sales revenue.
Earlier this year, the Swiss athletic company said sales of its "Cloudmonster" and "Cloudsurfer" sneaker models contributed "exceptionally” to its growth.
