Aimee Lou Wood opens up about childhood struggles and traumas
Aimee Lou Wood shares how she once felt the pressure to be "normal"
Aimee Lou Wood opened up about how doing impressions as a child helped her come out of her shell and connect with people.
The 31 year old actress revealed in an interview with Radio Time's magazine that she was very shy growing up, but often created her own world at home.
“I was always doing impressions,” she said. “I was very shy, but in private, I'd be talking to myself, and dressing up in wigs and creating my own little mini universe. It gave me calm.”
The star admitted she rarely used her real voice as she preferred different accents, characters and even singing her thoughts.
According to Aimee, this habit eventually gave her the confidence to talk to others and make friends. “All of a sudden, I could talk to people and find friends. It's how I learned to express myself,” she explained.
The White Lotus star also shared that she once felt pressure to be “normal” but later found comfort in being different.
She said her favorite characters and people she admired were never ordinary. “Growing up, I felt a deep need to be 'normal', but then I realized all my favorite people, all the people I admired, were weird, even my favorite characters, like Jane Eyre,” she said.
However, the actress added that acting helped her embrace her expressive face and changed how she saw beauty.
Earlier this year, Aimee revealed her ADHD diagnosis and said it made her see her condition as a “superpower.”
