Taylor Swift speaks out on Charli XCX diss track 'Actually Romantic'
Taylor Swift breaks down ‘Actually Romantic’ lyrics which throws shade at Charli XCX
Taylor Swift finally spoke out about her sharp as knife lyrics on the song, Actually Romantic, which fans believe to be about Charli XCX.
The 35-year-old pop superstar explained the song in an Amazon Music introduction for the song, on Friday, October 3.
The 14-time-Grammy winner said the song is “about realizing that someone else has kind of had a one-sided, adversarial relationship with you that you didn’t know about," which appears to be her relationship with the 360 hitmaker.
"And all of a sudden they start doing too much and they start letting you know that actually, you’ve been living in their head rent-free and you had no idea," the Showgirl songstress continued.
However, Swift described her interpretation of the situation as, "It’s presenting itself as them sort of resenting you or having a problem with you but you take that and just accept it as love and you accept it as attention and affection, and how flattering that somebody has made you such a big part of their reality when you didn’t even think about this.”
According to Swifties, the song is a direct response to Charli XCX’s Sympathy Is a Knife which is believed to be about the Eras Tour performer.
The title, Actually Romantic, also seems to be a dig at the BRAT songsress’ song, Everything Is Romantic.
