Prince Harry shares sentiments after landmark reunion with King Charles
Prince Harry and King Charles reunited on Wednesday after 18-month hiatus
Prince Harry reunites with his father King Charles after 18-months hiatus at Clarence House.
The rare reunion was lasted just for an hour. The Duke of Sussex was inquired about the brief meeting with his father while attending an event for his Invictus Games organisation later that evening. "Yes he's great, thank you," he responded.
The meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles was described as a "private tea" and took place after the King was flown down from Aberdeen Airport to London.
The Duke was already in the capital as part of his four-day trip to the UK. The reunion was confirmed by Buckingham Palace soon after it took place.
Immediately after the meeting, Prince Harry attended the first-ever Invictus Horizons gathering in London, where he delivered a keynote address to attendees.
"This is what Invictus does best: it catalyses change," Prince Harry said. "It shows what is possible when courage is met with opportunity, and when recovery is supported by respect and community."
He emphasised the importance of the next decade for Invictus, stating that the best is yet to come. "That is why tonight is so important. Because as proud as I am of our first decade, I know the next decade matters even more," he declared.
The meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles appears to be a culmination of a months-long campaign between both parties to repair their relationship.
In recent months, there have been signs of a potential thaw in relations, including a meeting between Prince Harry's aides and the King's Communications Secretary.
It is believed that Prince Harry had offered to share diary dates with Charles and the Royal Family to avoid engagement overlaps.
Notably, this meeting is considered as a step towards reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles strained relationship.
