'Peacemaker' season 2: Everything you need to know
'Peacemaker' season 2 premiered on August 21
Peacemaker Season 2 just came out with new episodes released every Thursday. The big change is that Christopher Smith’s journey is now a part of the James Gunn and Peter Safran new DC Universe.
The first season was part of the Old DC Universe, but now it’s “rebooted” to fit the shows and new movies.
James Gunn, the maker of the show, seems very optimistic about the new changes. The fitting of Peacemaker into the new DC Universe is a soft reboot, as he explained.
The first episode, “Previously in the DCU” recap, fits with the new Superman as the old Justice League is replaced by a new team called “Justice Gang.” It features new characters like Hawkgirl and Green Lantern.
With a new story, the season takes place after the events of the Superman movie. There is also a new antagonist, Rick Flag Sr., who is fighting to take revenge because his son, Rick Flag Jr., was killed by Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad.
Regarding the Peacemaker, Gunn said that the Season 2 journey is more personal for the character, “Last season, he was full of bluster…. And he’s been humbled.”
“I think in the last season, he, you know, discovered these demons that he’s dealing with in life…and this season, it’s about him dealing with those demons.”
James wrote all eight episodes of Season 2 but directed the first, sixth, and eighth episodes. He said, “I originally planned to shoot all the episodes, but then I got hired as the head of the studio and couldn’t do it all.”
James Gunn expressed his excitement for the season and called it one of the best things he’s ever done.
Is Peacemaker season 2 in a different universe?
Yes, now both the movie and the show take place in the new DC Universe.
