Oprah Winfrey makes honest confession about fate of her daytime talk show
The Oprah Winfrey Show ran from 1986 to 2011
Oprah Winfrey, the famed host of the daytime talkshow The Oprah Winfrey Show, revealed how she feels about discontinuing the show after so many years.
Despite being the face of the show for almost 25 years, Winfrey made bombshell claim that ‘she doesn’t miss it’.
On her recent appearance on podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa, the 71-year-old told the host that she doesn’t ‘miss the show’ itself, rather what she misses about the show is the ‘connection to the audience’ she had built over so many years.
"I miss the everyday conversation," Winfrey elaborated. "I miss the conversations afterwards."
However, she clarified that she still didn’t want to do the same that she had been doing for so many years.
Winfrey shared on the podcast that "as much as I loved the audience, I'm telling you, the nature of what we were doing every day became just so hard."
Moreover, having to discuss ‘serious topics’ such as fighting cancer, going through a divorce, or a navigating through a ‘major dysfunction’ had become quite intense and difficult.
Also, the producers of the show would get ‘overwhelmed’ in case she didn’t bring in the Emmy accolades. She had no choice but to stop competing for the prestigious award so that her team could divert their energies into ‘doing the best work possible’.
For the unversed, Winfrey’s real thoughts about her own talk show have come as she has given her two cents to Kelly Ripa about her retirement plan.
Oprah shared, “If I were advising you, I would say absolutely not.”
