Buckingham Palace releases statement after Prince Edward represented King Charles in Canada
Buckingham Palace issued a major update on Prince Edward ahead of Duchess Sophie's solo royal tour.
On July 6, the official Instagram page of the royal family released delightful photos from the Duke of Edinburgh's recent visit to Canada alongside a statement detailing his tour.
King Charles' office shared that the father-of-two visited Prince Edward Island on the first day of his visit. He celebrated the 150th anniversary of the PEI Regiment, where he serves as Colonel-in-Chief.
Notably, Edward also joined a Freedom of the City parade in Charlottetown.
Moreover, "The Duke also met with the Abegweit First Nation, took part in an education forum for The Duke of Edinburgh’s @International_Award, and connected with a range of youth organisations."
In Toronto, Sophie's husband visited the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment, HMCS York, CFB Trenton, and the Toronto Police Marine Unit and Emergency Task Force to honour Canada’s military and police services.
"Finally, in Ottawa, HRH joined Canada Day celebrations and, as Honorary Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, visited the Musical Ride stables," the Palace's spokesperson said.
It is important to note that King Charles paid tribute to his brother Edward for successfully completing a significant royal engagement after Buckingham Palace confirmed the Duchess of Edinburgh's key visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, starting from Wednesday, July 10, to Friday, July 12.
