Prince Harry, who has been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness for last few years, has disclosed some rather tragic details regarding his hidden struggle and diagnosis.
The Duke of Sussex, who relocated to the US in 2020 to forge a new life free from royal protocol, recently sat down with renowned trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté for a candid conversation
According to the New York Daily News, Dr Maté diagnosed the Duke of Sussex with ADD, PTSD, anxiety, and depression on the spot.
The expert revealed Harry's issues stemmed from his childhood, including the unfortunate death of his mother Princess Diana in 1997.
King Charles III's youngest son himself concurred with this assessment, saying that his personal doctor had also privately diagnosed him with PTSD.
Harry explained that he intended his 2023 memoir "Spare" as "an act of service" that would ideally encourage and inspire others to be more open about their own mental health.
The Duke's book also reveals that he suffers from agoraphobia, which the APA Dictionary of Psychology defines as "an excessive, irrational fear of being in open or unfamiliar places.
Meghan's husband noted that his high-profile role in the royal family didn't exactly help his condition. In fact, it made it borderline unmanageable. The father-of-two recalled one particular incident where he nearly fainted while giving a speech.
He added that older brother Prince William didn't exactly do much to comfort him. The Prince of Wales allegedly laughed at him for being covered in sweat after all was said and done.
However, heir to the British throne William has been fairly open about the fact that he himself had to struggle to handle his anxiety during royal outings.
But the DNA William and Harry inherited from their mother, Diana, gave them a very easygoing and natural, empathetic way of dealing with people, especially small children. Their mother used signals of sympathy and affection while meeting with people, and she was known for giving small children her undivided attention.
Some body language experts believe Harry now comes across as more down-to-earth and less like a Hollywood celebrity after learning from the phases he's gone through
He appears more mature, more grownup person even during the cheer, chants, and standing ovation at public events.
