Prince William, Prince Harry rift enters 'new' era with 'no communication'

The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry has reached a critical point, with sources close to the Prince of Wales suggesting that he has emotionally detached from his younger brother. 

The brothers have not spoken or seen each other since their grandmother's funeral in September 2022, and insiders claim that William no longer mentions or thinks about Harry.

A friend of Prince William's told The Times that the Prince of Wales has undergone a significant transformation in his feelings towards his brother. "What has struck me the most recently is that he just doesn't mention it at all." 

This marks a departure from William's initial response to Harry's public attacks, when he was reportedly "burning" with anger.

Prince William's priorities have shifted towards providing a stable upbringing for his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. A friend observed that William has always been "fiercely protective" of his kids, determined to shield them from the turmoil he experienced during his parents' marriage breakdown and his mother's death.

The Waleses have navigated this challenging year by maintaining their principle of putting family first. During Kate's hospitalisation and chemotherapy treatment, William reduced his public engagements to maintain normality at home. 

The couple continues to share school runs and attend their children's sporting events and school performances.

A source close to the couple noted their appreciation for public backing: "When you're going through a tough time like that and you've got a lot of tough choices to make in terms of protecting your family, the public support and having had the time to be a husband and father through it all was important." 

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, former principal private secretary to William, Kate, and Harry, praised William's character and courage, saying: "I think it has demonstrated William's character and his courage – he's had to take the whole thing in his stride and shown that he won't be pushed around."
