Prince Harry, Meghan Markle accused of disregarding Sussex title after single visit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are accused of disregarding Sussex title after failing to acknowledge Sussex Day.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles were given by the late Queen Elizabeth II, following their wedding.

Interestingly Meghan was the luckiest one to become the first ever Duchess of Sussex, while Harry was only the second person in history to hold the title of Duke of Sussex.

Since the couple moved to California in 2020 after stepping down as senior working royals as they just made a single official visit to Sussex.

To note, the Sussex Day takes place annually on June 16. Now, some local residents and a former Sussex MP have renewed their calls for the couple to be stripped of their titles due to their lack of involvement with the region.

Former MP Tim Loughton voiced his views to MailOnline. He stated: 'Ye again the interest of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the country from which they continue to use their title has been underwhelming to say the least. It is time we had a Duke of Sussex who has gone a genuine interest in our Country, and wishing Sussex residents a happy Sussex Day is hardly a tall order.'

'They rarely visited Sussex even before they abandoned the UK for California and on our Country Dat they have given shown no interest in Sussex.'

His remarks were echoed by many royal supporters online, with some claiming: 'They don't care about Sussex. They only want the titles and none of the responsibility that comes with it.'

Meanwhile, Meghan remains busy in promoting the launch of new products under her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
