Google announces exciting AI advancements, features
Key announcements show how AI is changing various Google products, experiences
Google on Wednesday unveiled its latest advancements in artificial intelligence focused on creating AI that is more intelligent, agentic, and personalised for everyone.
“More intelligence is available, for everyone, everywhere… What all this progress means is that we’re in a new phase of the AI platform shift. Where decades of research are now becoming reality for people, businesses and communities,” said Sundar Pichai, the Chief Executive Officer of Google.
The key announcements show how AI is changing various Google products and experiences. It introduces Gemini 2.5 upgrades, smart Google search, generative AI media tools, Gemini app updates and work-space with Gemini.
Firstly, Gemini 2.5 introduced new features like Deep Think — an enhanced reasoning mode that is designed for complex tasks like coding and math. Also, this model supports native audio generation.
The search engine turned into smart Google search that includes AI mode — a new interface powered by Gemini that helps users explore topics more deeply and interactively. Also, AI overviews available in more than 200 countries and over 40 languages. This is transforming search from a source of information into an engine of intelligence with new features like video understanding and screen sharing rolling out.
Furthermore, generative AI media tools are available to empower the next generation of creators by introducing Imagen 4 for high- quality images, Veo 3 for cinematic videos, and Lyria 2 for AI-generated music. These tools are accessible through Flow — Google’s new AI-powered filmmaking platform designed to help creators to do storyboarding, directing and producing short videos with natural language prompts and media references.
The Gemini application is also updated, providing evolved version of assistant that is more intuitive. Due to this update, Gemini can better understand users surrounding and predicts what it needs next as it is integrated with camera input, screen sharing and world modeling from Project Astra. This helps users to do various tasks better including problem solving, creating content and navigating its digital life.
Gemini is now embedded into Google Workspace, making it more helpful. In Gmail, it gives personalised smart replies while it can translate speech in Google Meet. Furthermore, it helps users write better using research and suggestions. In addition to these, the new Vids app let users create short videos using slides, voice input, and AI editing.
