Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi, Khushi pay last respects to late grandmother

Sonam Kapoor, along with Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, grew emotional during the final rites of their grandmother Nirmal Kapoor, on Friday, May 2.

Nirmal, the mother of Boney, Anil, and Sanjay Kapoor, passed away yesterday at the age of 90.

The videos from the funeral, held at the Pawan Hans Crematorium, have been circulating online.

One viral clip shows the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo actress visibly grief-striken, with her head bowed and tears streaming down her cheeks.

Janhvi, who was accompanied by her boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya and her sister Khushi, was also seen wiping away tears after performing the final rites.

Other members of the Kapoor family in attendance included Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, and Anshula Kapoor.

Meanwhile, several Bollywood celebrities paid tribute to the departed soul by attending the funeral, including Jackie Shroff, Farhan Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji, Arbaaz Khan, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Fardeen Khan, and Anupam Kher.

The funeral took place shortly after the Maidaan producer, on behalf of the Kapoor family, announced his mother passing via Instagram.

He penned, “Nirmal Surendar Kapoor passed away peacefully on the 2nd of May, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She lived a full and joyful life, leaving behind four devoted children, loving daughters-in-law, a caring son-in-law, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a lifetime of treasured memories.”

Boney continued, “Her generous spirit and boundless love touched all who knew her. She will remain in our hearts-forever cherished, forever missed. BONEY, ANIL, REENA, SANJAY, SUNITA, SANDEEP, MAHEEP, MOHIT, SONAM, ARJUN, RHEA, HARSHVARDAN, ANSHULA, JANHVI, SHANAYA, KHUSHI, JAHAAN, ANTARA, ANAND, AASHITA, THEA, VAYU, AYRA, YUVAAN.”

For the unversed, Nirmal reportedly died at the Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to age-related complications.
