Demi Moore, Bruce Willis celebrated Olympic team’s gold win: Dominique Moceanu
Dominique Moceanu reveals Demi Moore, Bruce Willis celebration for Olympic team
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore knew how to throw a party, and Dominique Moceanu has the ultimate proof.
The Olympic gold medalist recently reminisced about the unforgettable surprise celebration the Hollywood power couple hosted for the Magnificent Seven after their historic win at the 1996 Atlanta Games.
"Bruce Willis and Demi Moore threw a surprise party at Planet Hollywood after we won gold," Moceanu shared at 90s Con on March 29. "We were police escorted over there, and she had just filmed G.I. Jane, so that was really exciting."
For a 14-year-old gymnast fresh off the biggest victory of her life, the night was straight out of a movie. "She had her bandana on," Moceanu recalled. "I thought she was the coolest chick ever. It was a lot of fun."
Moceanu, now 43, and her Magnificent Seven teammate Shannon Miller, now 48, reunited at the nostalgia-packed convention to relive their Olympic glory days. And while winning gold on home soil was already special, the presence of A-list supporters made the experience even more surreal.
"I met Andre Agassi, so that was really cool," Moceanu said, recalling just one of the big-name encounters during her Olympic run. And the celebrity sightings didn’t stop there—she also spotted Jamie Lee Curtis cheering from the stands.
With the 2028 Olympics set to take place in Los Angeles, Moceanu predicts a similarly star-studded atmosphere—one that could be extra meaningful for her family. Her son, Vincent Canales, has Olympic aspirations of his own and is hoping to compete in those very Games.
Back in 1996, Moceanu and her teammates became the first American gymnastics team to take home Olympic gold.
Nearly three decades later, the memories of that historic summer—and the epic Hollywood-style celebration that followed—are as dazzling as ever.
