AR Rahman paid less attention towards marriage with Saira Banu than work?

Indian music composer, AR Rahman seems to be much passionate towards his music career that he was found composing a song even on his honeymoon with ex-wife Saira Banu.

A time-worn interview has emerged in which the 57-year-old's brother-in-law, who shares the same name, Rahman, opened up about the singer’s dedication towards his work.

"I remember, when he got married, he took my sister-in-law for the honeymoon to a hill station. I called them that night; it was just 12 or 1... She answered, she was sleeping already,” he claimed.

“I asked, ‘Where is Rahman?’ She said, ‘I don’t know’. He was in another room, practicing his veena. He was composing something; he’s that kind of person.”

The actor also revealed the characteristics of Roja vocalist's personality, saying, he likes to be alone, and doesn’t get involved in baseless gossips or talks.

On Tuesday, Rahman and Saira officially announced their divorce after 29 years of togetherness, mentioning 'significant emotional strain in their relationship'.

The couple's lawyer shared their joint statement, that read: "After many years of marriage, Saira and her husband, A R. Rahman, have made the difficult decision to separate from each other. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship."

"Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time."

Following the announcement, A.R Rahman and Saira Banu's children, Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen requested fans to respect their privacy and refrain from breaching their personal space.
