Hema Malini recalls being hesitant to play 'Baghban' role
'Baghban' also features Salman Khan and Paresh Rawal
Dream Girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini has revealed that she was hesitant to be a part of the iconic film, Baghban.
Initially, Malini was uncertain of playing the role of a mother to four adult men in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer project as she herself was 55-years-old at the time.
In conversation with Lehran Retro, Dharmendra’s wife stated: “I am being asked to play a mother to these four adult men. How could I.”
The 76-year-old actress recalled making an instant decision to reject the movie. However, her mother stopped her for making that wrong choice and encouraged her to play the part.
“I remember when I was hearing the story from Ravi Chopra, my mother was sitting. And she said, 'No, no no, you must do it!' I said, ‘Why?’ ‘No, the story is very good. You must do it.”
“I said, ‘Okay, I’ll do it.' I wasn't doing films. After a long gap, I was working. So I thought, ‘Why should I do this?’ But she said, ‘No, you must. The role is very nice”, said the Sholay actress.
Baghban, directed by Ravi Chopra, is a family-drama film that also stars Salman Khan, Mahima Chaudhry, Rimi Sen, Paresh Rawal in significant roles.
