Buckingham Palace issues King Charles and Queen Camilla's mourning statement
King Charles issued a personal message over the demise of a notable personality.
The monarch and Queen Camilla mourned the sudden death of Scotland's former First Minister Alex Salmond, who died at the age of 69 on Saturday.
Daily Record's Sunday Mail reported that a "suspected heart attack" could be the reason behind the ex-PM's demise.
According to Express, Buckingham Palace released King Charles's statement, which reads, "My wife and I are greatly saddened to hear of the sudden death of Alex Salmond."
"His devotion to Scotland drove his decades of public service. We extend our deep condolences to his family and loved ones at this time."
Notably, the King's heartbreaking message came just a few days before his much-awaited foreign trip amid his cancer treatment.
For the unversed, King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit Australia and Samoa, and attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from 18th - 26th October 2024.
