Prince Harry and Meghan Markle delay UK house hunt amid security appeal
Prince Harry's legal battle over security moves forward as court denies expedited appeal
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have opted to delay their search for a residence in the UK until their security concerns are addressed by the Home Office, as reported by Express.co.uk.
The Duke of Sussex recently received permission to appeal a High Court ruling from June, which dismissed his challenge regarding a decision to reduce his personal security detail during visits to the UK with his family.
A source familiar with the situation shared, "Harry truly desires to spend more time in the UK, but he feels it's necessary to resolve the security issues first."
The couple had initially planned to begin house hunting for a part-time residence near Windsor this year, contingent upon progress in the appeals process expected before the end of July.
However, delays in the court proceedings have extended their wait.
Initially taking legal action in 2020 following a decision to adjust his taxpayer-funded protection after stepping back as a working royal, Harry faced setbacks earlier this year when the High Court ruled the decision lawful and subsequently denied his challenge in April to appeal that ruling.
Despite these rulings, the Court of Appeal decided in June to review Harry's challenge concerning his police protection, prompted by a direct application from his legal team.
Harry sought to expedite the appeal, aiming for a resolution by the end of July, but his request for accelerated proceedings was recently declined by a Court of Appeal judge, who upheld the queue system for cases.
