'Three Women': Shailene Woodley helps women explore themselves
'Three Women' will hit the screens on September 13
The trailer for Starz's limited series Three Women revealed a candid and unflinching portrayal of women's stories, adapted from Lisa Taddeo's bestselling book.
Created by Taddeo, the show features Shailene Woodley, Betty Gilpin, DeWanda Wise, Gabrielle Creevy, Blair Underwood, and Jason Ralph.
The 10-episode series delves into the complexities of female desire through the stories of three women who disrupt their lives.
Lina, a suburban homemaker, begins an affair that upends her decade-long marriage. Sloane, a Northeast entrepreneur, faces challenges to her open marriage from two alluring strangers.
Maggie, a North Dakota student, navigated a tumultuous aftermath after accusing her teacher of an inappropriate relationship.
In the trailer, Woodley played Gia, a writer reeling from a family tragedy, who embarks on a solo road trip across the country.
Along the way, she encountered three women - Lina, Sloane, and Maggie - and convinceed them to share their stories. As Gia listened to their experiences, her life was profoundly impacted.
"More than I wanted to tell their stories, I wanted to hear them myself," Woodley said in a voiceover.
"They all had the audacity to believe they deserved more." With Laura Eason as showrunner and Lisa Taddeo, Kathy Ciric, and Emmy Rossum as executive producers, this series promises a powerful exploration of female desire and empowerment.
“I wanted to tell the world their story,” Woodley concluded in the footage. “Our particular pains come from wound sites we can’t see on one another. The thing we can do to understand is to listen, to really listen.”
