As summer approaches, it's important to adjust your lifestyle to maintain optimal health.

Here are some key tips to help you stay healthy and enjoy the summer season. By following them you can enjoy a healthy and active summer while taking care of your overall well-being.

Stay Hydrated:

Drink Plenty of Water and Eat Hydrating Foods: Aim for at least 8-10 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Carry a water bottle with you to remind yourself to drink.  Incorporate fruits and vegetables with high water content into your diet, such as watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges.

Protect Your Skin:

Use Sunscreen and Wear Protective Clothing: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days. Reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating. Opt for lightweight, long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Maintain a Balanced Diet:

Eat Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables and Limit Sugary and Processed Foods: Summer is a great time to enjoy a variety of fresh produce like berries, tomatoes, and leafy greens. Choose natural snacks over sugary and processed options to keep your energy levels stable.

Stay Active:

Exercise Outdoors and Morning or Evening Workouts: Take advantage of the warm weather by engaging in outdoor activities like hiking, biking, or swimming. To avoid the heat, exercise during the cooler parts of the day, either early in the morning or late in the evening.

Get Enough Sleep:

Keep a Regular Sleep Schedule and Create a Cool Sleeping Environment: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day to regulate your body's internal clock. Use fans or air conditioning to keep your bedroom cool and comfortable for sleeping.

Protect Against Insects:

Use Insect Repellent and Wear Appropriate Clothing: Apply insect repellent when spending time outdoors, especially during dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active. Long sleeves and pants can help protect against insect bites.

Manage Stress:

Practice Relaxation Techniques: Engage in activities like yoga, meditation, or deep-breathing exercises to help manage stress. Allow yourself time to relax and recharge, whether it's a short vacation or a weekend getaway.

Stay Safe in the Water:

Swim in Designated Areas and Learn to Swim: Only swim in areas monitored by lifeguards and follow safety guidelines. If you don't know how to swim, consider taking swimming lessons to improve your confidence and safety in the water.
