Imtiaz Ali opens up about making of 'Nadaan Parindey' song starring Ranbir Kapoor

Imtiaz Ali recently offered insights into the genesis of the song Nadaan Parindey, featuring Ranbir Kapoor from the movie Rockstar.

During a conversation on Ranveer Allahabadia's podcast, the 52-year-old Indian filmmaker disclosed how the renowned Sufi poet Rumi influenced the creation of Nadaan Parindey.

Imtiaz reminisced about shooting a scene featuring drum beats without any accompanying lyrics.

The Jab We Met director revealed that while contemplating the song, he received a text message from an NRI friend that read, "The hunting falcon fears the sound of the drums. Come home. Come home," and this resonated deeply with him as it mirrored his own thoughts regarding the scene.

The film Rockstar was released on November 11, 2011, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles.

The storyline centers on a young musician who pursues heartbreak from a renowned girl to advance his career and attain a more profound understanding of life, inspired by his musical idols.

On the work front, Imtiaz is basking the success of his newly directed film Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh.

The film was released on April 8, 2024.
