Lara Dutta, who was rumored to have been offered the role of Kaikeyi in Nitesh Tiwari's film Ramayana, has now spoken out about the matter after maintaining silence for some time.
During an interview with the Indian Express, the 46-year-old actress responded to speculation about portraying Kaikeyi, expressing that it's an opportunity anyone would be thrilled to.
The Bhagam Bhag actress also mentioned that she's opting to leave the rumors "out there."
She explained, “I am hearing it a lot as well. I am leaving the rumors out there.”
“I also like reading and hearing about them so please continue. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of Ramayana?," Lara further shared.
Furthermore, the Housefull star also humorously listed the other characters she would have enjoyed portraying in the Ranbir Kapoor film, stating, "There were so many characters I would have loved to play if it was offered to me. Surpanakha, Mandodari, I'm playing them all."
This response came, when a couple of weeks earlier, several images of Lara Dutta and Arun Govil on the sets of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana circulated widely on the internet.
The viral photographs, acquired by Zoom, depicted Lara and Arun in their designated roles.
On the work front, Lara will next be seen in the film, Welcome to the Jungle, alongside Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and others.
The film is slated for the release on December 20, 2024.
