Ruby Franke again shocks world, as her diaries surface with disturbing details of abuse
Prosecutors release Ruby Franke's diaries with shocking details of abuse on her children
Utah parenting blogger Ruby Franke has again shocked the world. Her diaries have come to the fore, revealing unsettling details about the abuse she inflicted on her two young children.
Ruby Franke was sentenced to prison after disturbing details surfaced about the abuse she inflicted on her children. The former YouTube parenting influencer documented her family life but secretly kept journals detailing the abuse.
For months, she wrote about starving her kids, believing they were possessed by demons and wrote in her journals about "breaking the bond Satan made."
“I will not feed a demon,” she wrote in an entry about her 12-year-old son.
“If you can engage a weak-minded soul in a physical activity of obedience you can begin to break the bond Satan made w/ the weak,” Franke wrote in another entry.
These journals were released by prosecutors after she pleaded guilty to child abuse. Prosecutors allege Franke and her business partner subjected the children to starvation, forced labour, and cruel punishments, like shaving heads, and denying beds.
Franke even admitted to pushing her son in a pool while covering his mouth.
She and her business partner are said to have belonged to a radical religious group. Franke claimed she was misled by religious beliefs and "disoriented." Both were sentenced to at least four years in prison.
The abuse came to light after her son, malnourished and injured, escaped and sought help. Police reached her house and found her frightened daughter hiding in a closet.
Police took her children under custody who are safe now.
