Quetta Gladiators’ Abrar Ahmed, Saud Shakeel fined for breaching PSL rules

Abrar faces penalty for negating umpires’ instructions while Saud “violates” code prohibiting provocative actions

The two players of Quetta Gladiators, Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel have been fined 5% of their match fees for violating the code of conduct during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) ninth edition’s match against Islamabad United on Friday.

As per the press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), spinner Abrar was fined for violating Article 2.4 of the PSL code of conduct which deals with the consequences of not following an umpire’s instruction.

In the 19th over against United, Abrar rolled the ball along the ground contrary to umpires’ instructions in this regard.

Whereas, opening batsman Saud violated Article 2.5 of the PSL rules which prevents from using provocative language or actions against a batter upon his dismissal.

The Gladiators player said something to Salman Agha that could have provoked him in the 12th over, when the United player was ousted.

“Both players pleaded guilty to the charges and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed.

“The charges were imposed by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney,” read the press release.

Islamabad United bulldozes Quetta Gladiators

Islamabad United routed Quetta Gladiators in the first eliminator match by 39 runs on Friday at the National Stadium Karachi. After the defeat, the United would face Peshawar Zalmi today.

Quetta were all out for 135 while chasing 175-run target. Islamabad’s bowlers reigned supreme throughout the game.

Imad took three scalps, Naseem picked two while Obey McCoy, Hunain Shah and Faheem Ashraf got one wicket apiece.
