WhatsApp users to get 'end-to-end encrypted' label feature in chats
Option aims to reassure users of their chats and data being secured from illegal access and prying eyes
The advent of numerous hacking malware has inculcated scepticism amongst users of various messaging platforms, however, WhatsApp in its bid to address this is introducing a new feature with end-to-end encrypted” — to reassure users of their chats and data being secured.
The option provisions improved understanding of WhatsApp users of the security status of their ongoing chats by giving a a visual confirmation that the messages exchanged in that specific conversation are protected with end-to-end encryption and therefore secure from prying eyes or illegal access.
The feature simply adds a new encryption label under the contact and group name within the conversations, reported WABetaInfo.
For now, the option is available to some beta testers via the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.1.10.73 on the TestFlight app.
It is intended to momentarily emerge in the chat caption, offering a prompt visual affirmation of secure communication, as it disappears a few seconds to be replaced by the “last seen” info.
This information teaches users about WhatsApp's stern security protocols while also giving them a quick and simple way to identify private conversations.
This new feature reflects WhatsApp’s proactive stance to help users comprehend that the content of their conversations is always private by making the encryption status so obvious.
