Internet singing sensation files nomination papers from Lahore’s NA-128 constituency
British-Pakistani internet singing sensation, Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, is set to contest general elections as an independent candidate on February 8, 2024.
Kashif Rana aka ‘Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’, who went viral on social media for his unique singing videos, submitted his nomination papers for the National Assembly (NA) seat.
He will run for the NA seat from Lahore’s NA-128 as an independent candidate.
He became an internet singing sensation for his unique videos as 'Chahat Fateh Ali Khan', attracting millions of netizens.
Earlier this year, he also sang Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 and ICC World Cup 2023 anthems in his own style.
Chahat used to be a first-class cricketer in Pakistan.
He was part of the Lahore team in the 1983-84 season of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy. He played two first-class matches, in which he scored 16 runs in three innings.
Later on, he also moved to the United Kingdom in search of a better future. He also played club cricket there for 12 years.
The general elections are set to take place on February 8 next year, while the date for submitting nomination papers expired on December 24 (Sunday). The next phase is for the Election Commission of Pakistan to begin scrutinising the papers.
