Elon Musk is not happy with Microsoft Word's inclusivity option — but why?
Musk shares screenshot of Word document with blue squiggly line beneath it in his recent post
Elon Musk voiced his displeasure with Microsoft Word's inclusion function on Friday in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
With a request to replace the term "insane" due to its bias against mental health, Musk shared a screenshot of a Word document with a blue squiggly line beneath it.
"Microsoft Word now scolds you if you use words that aren't 'inclusive'!" he said in the post's caption.
Musk also mentioned that the word "11,000lbs" was marked as incorrect in the Word document, suggesting that kilogrammes be used in its place.
The Perspective tool "highlights potentially confusing numbers in documents," according to Microsoft.
Word then "offers perspective phrases that are simple to comprehend and can be inserted inline to aid individuals in understanding what they're writing or reading."
Regarding the inclusivity feature, a number of users have expressed gratitude for its assistance in encouraging them to write and utilise words more carefully.
It's simple to disable Microsoft Word's inclusion feature from the options menu.
Bias words pertaining to age, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender-neutral pronouns, language that is gender-specific, race, and sexual orientation are all covered in this topic.
Notably, Microsoft does not prevent users from inputting specific terms. It only informs people about possibly non-inclusive phrases or provides substitute ideas.
