Tribute paid to slain EPI official

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that provincial government is fully committed to eradicate polio from province and all available resources are being utilized for the purpose.

He said this while speaking at a ceremony arranged on Thursday to pay tributes to the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Coordinator for Swabi, Dr. Yaqoob Khan, who was gunned down on November 30, 2015.

Minister for Health Sharam Khan Tarakai, Secretary Health, National Chair Rotary National Aziz Memon, representatives of UNICEF, World Health organization attended the ceremony, said an official handout.

The chief minister said that Dr Yaqoob Khan was a brilliant, devoted and committed officer. His brutal killing, he said, not only shocked his family but also snatched a man from us who was so committed to polio eradication. A cheque for Rs200,000 was handed over to the son of late Dr Yaqoob Khan.
