Husband gets death in Sania Zehra’s murder case

MULTAN: Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohsin Ali Khan on Wednesday awarded death sentence and Rs 500,000 fine to Ali Raza, husband of Sania Zehra whose body was found hanged in a room of her in-laws house on July 9, 2024.

The court awarded life imprisonment to Ali Raza’s brother Ai Haider and mother Azra Parveen while Ali’s father Jeevan Shah, his daughter Kanwal Zahra and his daughter-in-law Madiha Khan alias Dua Shah were acquitted as the prosecution could not prove their involvement in the murder of the victim.

Earlier, Sania Zahra’s handcuffed husband Ali Raza was presented in the court who was the main accused in the case and was in jail. The father of the deceased Syed Asad Abbas Shah had nominated six people, including Sania’s husband Ali Raza, brother-in-law Haider Ali and mother-in-law Azra Parveen, in the case lodged with the New Multan police station.

The government had formed a joint investigation team consisting of senior police officers to investigate the case.A total of 49 hearings were held in the Sania Zahra’s murder case. The challan of the case was presented in the court on April 25, 2025.

Meanwhile, Syed Asad Abbas Shah, father of the deceased Sania Zahra, said that the people used to say that his daughter had committed suicide, but today the judiciary had proven that it was a murder.He said that he fought alone to get justice for his daughter and bring the criminals to justice.
