PESHAWAR: Downpour and snowfall in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) brought mercury down on Tuesday, forcing the people to stay indoors.
According to data collected from Met Office, Malam Jabba in Swat received 34 millimeter (mm) rain, Parachinar and Risalpur 13mm, Saidu Sharif 7mm, Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Cherat 6mm, Kalam 5mm, Peshawar 3mm, Kohat and Bannu 2mm and Chitral 1mm.
Some 10 inches snowfall in Malam Jabba and 2 inches in Kalam were also recorded, an official of the Met Office told The News. He said cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country in the next 24 hours. However, more rain and snowfall is also expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar divisions and the Fata, he added.
The rain and snowfall turned the weather very cold. Severe cold prevailed in Parachinar where minus six degree centigrade temperature was recorded. In Dir and Swat, the minimum temperature was recorded as minus three degree centigrade and in Chitral minus one degree.
In Peshawar, minimum temperature was six degree centigrade and maximum 16.
MINGORA: The residents remained indoors as the mercury dipped down due to the continued snowfall and rain in Malakand division.
The upper parts of Swat district received heavy snowfall. Tourists thronged Kalam, Malam Jabba, Bahrain, Osho, Gabral and other scenic valleys after the snowfall.The snowfall and rain increased the miseries of the earthquake affected people in Swat.
BISHAM: The upper parts of the district, including Yakh Tangi, Olandar, Damorai, Kapar Banda, Spin Ghar and Shangla top, received snowfall on Tuesday.The lower parts Karoora, Puran, Alpuri and Bisham received intermittent rain.
