The workshop was attended by Chief Executive Officer, KPBOIT, Hassan Daud, representatives of KP academia and private sector, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) and focal persons of 25 KP government departments.

It was part of the strategy to apprise the public and private sector of the significance of the reform drive for businesses and economic development as well as handholding of relevant stakeholders for successful implementation of the initiative.

Ansari said the government was pursuing a broadly-based regulatory reforms agenda focusing on economic improvement, facilitation of business fraternity by the introduction of smart and friendly regulations as part of the PRMI and promotion of the SMEs through Regulatory Guillotine.

He hoped that training of government officers in smart regulations would enhance their capacity as regulators and provide them with an opportunity to learn about global best practices. The trainer briefed the participants about the regulatory reforms pertaining to KP and assured them of BOI active support and collaboration. Hassan Daud talked about KP’s progress and the launch of KP business portal.

“People are now identifying KP as a trade and business destination”, he said and pointed to the chief minister’s keen interest in reforming the business environment.

Abdul Karim, Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Industries, Commerce & Technical Education, stated that KP was the only province with access to nine gateways and this advantage could be leveraged through facilitation for seeking federal government no-objection certificates.

He also highlighted the potential of KP tourism and Mine & Minerals for attracting investment through Public-Private Partnerships.

The workshop concluded with the certificate distribution ceremony to participants.

Earlier in the day, Mukarram Jah Ansari and his team along with Hassan Daud called on KP Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz wherein the implementation of the wide-range reform drive was discussed in detail.
