Malam Jabba resort reopens for tourists

MINGORA: Malam Jabba resort, which was closed due to increase in cases of Covid-19, was re-opened for tourists on Sunday after a gap of two and half months.

Hundreds of tourists thronged the scenic valley to enjoy its beauty and pleasant weather.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan is keen to promote tourism in the entire country. Following the vision of the PM, KP government is taking drastic steps for the promotion of tourism in the province,” Director General (DG) Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asfandyar Khan told reporters.

He said that Malam Jabba is famous throughout the world for its scenic and serene beauty, snow filled mountains, and natural landscape.

The official added that after the opening of tourism resorts, tourists would enjoy beautiful valleys and at the same time, it would boost the economy of the region.

“We are determined to provide every facility to the tourists at Malam Jabba resort. Besides chairlifts and Zipline, very soon we will provide other facilities for the interests of tourists,” said Pir Waris Shah, General Manager of Malam Jabba Resort.

Asma, a female tourist from Karachi, told this scribe that the Covid-19 had created a stressful environment and purpose of her visit was to get relaxed. She added that she along with her family was enjoying every moment of the visit.

Popular Pashtu drama’s actor, Ismail Shahid, told The News that Swat valley had a great natural landscape. He urged the government to provide facilities for the visitors.

“I have come here along with my family from Faisalabad and it is my first visit to Malam Jabba. On one side the weather is very hot in my native city, but here in Malam Jabba due to the freezing breeze, I feel a bit cold,” said Abida Ali, a tourist.
