Cops awarded cash prizes

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani on Wednesday awarded cash prizes and commendation certificates to cops for averting a terror bid in the provincial capital

The IGP awarded SHO Muhammad Sher, Muharrir Shoaib and four special police officers Gul Dad Shah, Dost Muhammad, Sarfaraz, Sabz Ali Shah and Shehryar cash prizes and commendation certificates at the Central Police Office in Peshawar, said an official statement.

The cops started investigation after a blast in the room of prayer leader of a mosque in Panam Dheri, Mathra. After finding explosive material at the blast site, the police took prayer leader and four other persons into the custody.

The suspects during interrogation revealed that they had planned attacks on various public and private schools on December 16. Police also recovered two 20kg bombs, rocket launcher, four shells, holes of bombs, one rifle and one 32 bore pistol. The IGP appreciated the cops and said that their timely action averted a huge catastrophic.
