DIR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) parliamentary leader in National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah on Monday inaugurated expansion work of the Dodba-Sawni Road.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, he said that Rs597.77 million would be spent on expansion and repair of the 17-kilometre road
from Dodba to Sawni in Sheringal.
He said the project after completion would reduce distance between the two areas by 10 kilometres.
Minister for Local Government Inayatullah, District Nazim Sahibzada Fasihullah, former MPA Malik Behram Khan and local leaders of various political parties were present on the occasion.
The JI leader said the
project would play a
role in promoting tourism as tourists would use the road to go to Kumrat, Jaaz Banda and other scenic spots of Upper Dir.
He said that 80 per cent of work of the new road from Chukyatan to Sheringal on the other side of River Panchkora had been completed.
He said the students and staff of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal and people of the Kohistan valley would benefit from the new road project.
