Coronavirus patient dies

KOHAT: A patient of coronavirus lost battle for the life while an infected man hailing from Mastung in Balochistan province recovered and discharged from hospital on Wednesday.

Ramzan Afridi, 68, was brought to the isolation ward in the District Headquarters Hospital, Kohat, in a serious condition on April 5.

He was then referred to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, on April 6 due to his precarious condition. However, he expired in LRH.

Giving details, Medical Superintendent Dr Rahim Khattak said that a corona patient Din Muhammad, who had come from Mastung in Balochistan with the Tablighi Jamaat, recovered and sent home. This is the second patient infected by the fatal viral disease recovered in the district so far, he said.

The first one, the MS said, was also from Mastung in Balochistan and had come with the religious preachers group.

Meanwhile, the Kohat police and members of the civil society presented guard of honour to the doctors, paramedics and other health staff for their services being extended during prevailing coronavirus pandemic.

The doctors, nurses and other health staff members were praised for playing a frontline role in the fight against the Covid-19 infection in the district. They were also given flower bouquets on the occasion.
