Subsidised food items being sold in local market

GUJRANWALA: The subsidised food items provided by the government to Satellite Town utility store for the people are allegedly being sold in local markets.

Sources said that this practice was not only creating shortage of different items at the utility store but also damaging the government efforts to provide commodities to the people at subsidised rate. Sources alleged that the Satellite Town utility store’s manager was using a private vehicle to collect the quota from the warehouse and a large number of items, including sugar and flour, and supplying to different markets.

This practice was being carried on for a long time with the collusion of in charges of warehouse. On the other hand, citizens who were visiting the utility store to buy sugar, flour and other items complained of shortage of various commodities. They have demanded the higher authorities investigate the matter and take strict action against the officers and officials involved in this practice. When contacted, the warehouse in charge denied all allegations and claimed that all prescribed rules were being followed.

LOW GAS PRESSURE: Scores of people have shown concern over low gas pressure in various localities in the city. The residents of Nowshera Road, Usman Colony, Mian Sansi Road, Haidari Road and other areas told that they were facing unannounced gas loadshedding or very low pressure in their areas which was causing problems for them. They said that they were unable to prepare food at home. They lamented that they could not buy food from markets and bazaars due to the lockdown. They demanded the authorities look into the matter.
