ANP distributes food items, launches awareness drive against Coronavirus

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP), Nowshera district chapter, distributed food packages among the poor and needy people and launched awareness campaign against the coronavirus on Saturday.

A meeting of the party held in Kheshgi Payan union council, Nowshera, where ANP district president Jamal Khattak and tehsil president Zahid Khan asked the party workers and general people to donate for those, who had been suffered due to the lockdown in the district. A food package comprising daily use edible items was announced for 100 poor families and needy people of the village. Speaking on the occasion, Jamal Khattak said that his party had launched mass awareness campaign against the coronavirus pandemic and the party leaders and workers should tell people in their respective areas to stay home and adopt safety measures against the viral disease. “We salute all the healthcare workers, police and all those who had been in the frontline against the coronavirus outbreak in the country,” he said, adding that irrespective of party affiliation, the ANP leadership had mobilised the party workers to serve the humanity.

He said that the ANP district organization had asked its units at union council level to raise special funds for the poor and deserving people as the continuous lockdown had adversely affected labourers and daily wagers. Zahid Khan said that the coronavirus had affected the whole world and thousands of people had been infected by the virus and adopting the safety measures recommended by World Health Organization were the only way to protect from the Covid-19. He asked the party workers to distribute the food packages among the people irrespective of their party affiliation as it was not the time for politics but to serve the deserving people. ANP local leaders Mohammad Khalid, Arshad Khan, Khadim Khattak, Haji Muhamamd Tufail and others also spoke on the occasion.
