Minister visits quarantine centres in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: Federal Minister Dr Noorul Haq Qadri along with civil and military officials visited several quarantine centres and checked isolation wards and other arrangements for coronavirus patients, officials said on Saturday.

Dr Noorul Haq Qadri was accompanied by Colonel Waqar Saddiq, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Imran, PTI leader Muhammad Ameer Khan and Zakat committee chairman Ihsanullah Junaidi.

They visited the District Headquarters Hospital in Landikotal and Government Postgraduate College where they checked isolation wards established for the coronavirus patients.

DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Nekdad Khan Afridi briefed the minister and army officials about the arrangements made for the contagion in Landokotal.

Dr Nekdad said they have established a ward of 130 beds at postgraduate college and a 20-bed isolation ward established in DHQ hospital to quarantine each patient in a separate in isolation rooms.

He said 20 doctors and other health staff had already been deployed in the isolation wards.

The federal minister appreciated health staff and showed satisfaction over the arrangements.

Later talking to journalists, Noorul Haq Qadri said coronavirus was spreading very fast and claimed thousands of lives around the world. He said Pakistan Army, media, civil administration and citizens were jointly battling the virus.

Dr Noorul Haq Qadri appealed to the citizens to confine themselves in their homes and adopt other precautionary measures against the virus. Meanwhile, Dr Noorul Haq Qadri also met the family members of Arshad Khan, who was recently found dead in mountains in Ali Masjid locality in Jamrud. He offered Dua for the departed soul and condoled with the bereaved family. He also gave Rs1 lac to the family.
